About this place
A whole tender onion braised to translucent softness anchors the center of the plate at Taverna Paradiso, situated along the Kirakira Tachibana Shopping Street in Kyojima, Sumida Ward. The signature Paradise Curry combines substantial pieces of chicken and carrot with deep sweetness from the stewed onion. Diners use a small provided knife to cut through the vegetables as they eat; rich caramelized onion flavors mingle with popping mustard seeds and cumin, creating an approachable yet fragrant, layered spice blend.
The standard Paradise Curry comes with 230 grams of rice for a reasonable 650 yen, accompanied by an add-on topping system for tailoring each order. Extra onion, additional curry sauce, or more rice to satisfy larger appetites are all served in separate dishes. Adding the daily pickles for 50 yen provides a bright, pleasant acidity that refreshes the palate between spoonfuls of spicy sauce.
Service runs exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays, from 8:00 in the morning until 16:00, suiting both an early curry breakfast and a relaxed lunch. The compact counter seating makes solo diners feel right at home, and payment is cash only. It makes a satisfying stop during a weekend neighborhood walk, grounded by thoughtful prep and hearty, warming flavors.
